Hippodrome de Parilly
The Parilly Racecourse is located outside of Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. This multi-use equestrian facility was built in 1965, and has a "rope on the left" track that hosts flat grass and obstacle races as well as pozzolana track, trot races. Each year, they hold 160 flat races, 150 trots and 50 obstacles, including 6 cross-country competitions. They hold two meets a year: the first from March to June, and the second from September to December. The recently renovated stands at the Parilly Racecourse can hold up to 3,000 spectators. A panoramic restaurant has also been set up for lunch while attending the races. Several prestigious events mark out the year: the Garden Party and the Grand Prix of Parilly on Thursday of Ascension, the Grande Nocturne of mid-June during which the Grand Prix de Lyon takes place, a day named L'Hippodrome in September, and a Turfists' Christmas in December. The region's capital, Lyon, is just five miles away. It is a town rich with history from Roman ampithetres to medieval and Renaissance architecture. A town famous in the region for its cuisine, it has shops and cafes galore, and claims rights as the birthplace of cinema. Track Details:
